I am looking for a the second UY film in PAL on DVD. Does it exist?
-
PAL?
-
Doubt it. I don't think UY subbed was every officially released outside America.
Remember Japan uses PAL too, so the official Japanese DVD should be PAL. :P Though I think their PAL is a bit different from Europe's, but I may be wrong.
-
Japan uses NTSC...
-
Yeah, I was wrong.
I thought Japan used PAL for console games, that's why I said that.
-
well i remember having a PAL vhs of Beautiful dreamer in Italian, so you may find it.
I don't know if it is just a streched NTSC videom anyway
-
Yeah all I've been able to find is a PAL VHS, but since they were released a while ago they will only be avaible used and will have to be watched.
I've been able to find movies 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 as well as a complete OVA collection but not Movie 2 in PAL on Amazon.
-
Yes, it exists a PAL Version from Urusei Yatsura Movie 2 in France, released by KAZE: http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0006OBSRO/ref=s9_qpick_gw_ir01?pf_rd_m=A1X6FK5RDHNB96&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=1PDNGH0H4GAWVW6YJBHC&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463375573&pf_rd_i=405320
-
Does that version only have French subtitles?
-
The DVD have French and Japanese dub and only french subtitle.
-
You'd be better off getting a region-free DVD player, or flashing the firmware on your PC's DVD drive.
-
I have that movie in DVD... that I bought in Amazon.co.uk and it was on PAL...
And btw, you better be careful about buying DVD's in France... they have a different thing... from PAL called SECAM... I don't know if its used on the DVD's (disks)

I once bought a SECAM VHS tape and it worked on a PAL player but was in black and white. I think what I should do eventually is get a PAL/NTSC/SECAM Blu-ray region free player which can upscales DVDs to 1080p. I don't know where to find such a system though.
-
The DVD is in PAL (you can read this on the official publisher KAZE or Amazon Website). Region Code is 2 (Europe).
-
But does it have English subtitles?
-
But does it have English subtitles?
The DVD have French and Japanese dub and only french subtitle.
Or you buy the US Version and convert with a Program to PAL. Here (http://www.animedigital.de/ntscpal.htm) is a instruction for a good convert to PAL (but in German).
-
I didn't know it was possible to convert NTSC to PAL. I'd better do that (although I don't understand German and don't have any specialist software). Can someone tell me how to or direct me to somewhere that shows how to convert NTSC to PAL in English please?
<You don't have to read this part of the post as it is a bit long and circumstantial.>
What I would like to do is buy a multi-region blu-ray player that is capable of upscaling DVDs to 1080p although this is not possible as they cost £200+, another option is to buy a mutli-region DVD player, the problem with that is I have a feeling DVD players will become obselete a few years after I have bought it. Beautiful Dreamer has came out on Blu Ray but some reviews on amazon have criticised its quality compared to the later DVD version.
-
The software is VirtualDub (english). I woul'd this translate to english, if i have time.
The problem is, most Companys are directly converting from NTSC to PAL and so the quality is worse. Better is, use Tele Inverse (29,97 fps to 23,97 fps) with Deinterlacer. So you have a progessive Video and then convert to PAL.
