Title: Urusei yatsura calendar
Post by: ferrango on September 06, 2009, 02:24:01 PM
Hi to all!!!
does anyone of you know if there is an UY calendar for year 2010 freely avaible on the net?
I'm not looking for anything particular, something like the ones in the picture section.
otherwise I'll have to find my old copy of publisher 98 and see what i can get :).

Thanx in advance

First: i know i should have edited the previous post, but...
So, which template do you think is better?? please answer!!!

(if the admin allows me to do it, I'll upload them into the site's gallery instead of an external site)

Template 1
(http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/6646/ottpbre20102nd.jpg)

Template 2
(http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3207/febbraio20102nd.jpg)

Well, they're publisher 2007 default templates, so they can be edited if they're too...poor (and i think they are).

So, tell me which is best (i can't change template every month, can I?)

Most calendars like this have a different template per month.

My calendar has a different game advertisement for each month.

I also think it would look better if the days were in squares, instead of just numbers. Then it'd be easier to write inside and stuff.

U can tell this calendar is for Japan kinda, cause Sunday is at the end of the eek (instead of the beginning) and its red, symbolizing the day off, where as Saturday isn't, symbolizing work or school day.

what do you mean by "for Japan kinda"? Even on my phone (and on every calendar i saw) Sunday is at the end.
And yes, I'm a student so Sunday is red because of that :)

Portugal sees Sunday as the end of the week but I personally see it as the new day of the week. My Sporting CP callendar has Sunday as the end of the week and so as my cellphone's callendar.

I like the first frame and I also agree 100% with Urusei0Yatsura.

Sunday is at the beginning of my calendars XP

and I didn't say Sunday SHOULDN'T be red. I said that for most people, Saturday is ALSO a day off, so it should be red too. Red = holiday, day off, yasumi

I also agree 100% with Urusei0Yatsura.

agree with him on what? he didn't post in this forum :/

Sorry I meant that I agree 100% with you. I guess I'm not having too much hour sleep (which is true). >.<

Ok then, so far so good.
Here are my progresses (if we wanna call them so... :) )
I've added the bordered table so the days are markable and i made Saturdays red too. (exept for October, because I hadn't time to change it in these days)
As always, comments are welcome. (and critics too, btw)

January:

February:

March:

April:

October
(http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/6149/ottobre20102nda.jpg)

If anyone knows where I can get some beautiful wallpaper to use as background of the calendar pages, please tell me!! (obviously, not this forum's gallery, I've already considered that)

I like the January and October ones. Just a suggestion here, could you maybe make the calendars (table size and lines) a little bigger, and make the text a more bolder font?
Title: Re: Urusei yatsura calendar

Would these all be for the same calendar? Because I think consistency is important, not as in the pictures, but as in the tabled part. Usually, in my experience, the tables should line up when placed over one another.

Don't be afraid to cover the picture, since the table isn't coloured in.

It's ur design though, I'm being picky cause I'm gonna need a new calendar soon and I was thinking about printing urs out XP

i agree with UrusetNeo. like for the april one its cute but the calendar part is abit small. i may be printing it out too but overall i love it :) good job

do you think? well, i don't think that i'll be able to place all of the calendar grids in the same place ( as UruseiNeo suggested ) but i'll see to make them bigger, and all of the same size (more or less)

@UruseiNeo: it's true, i don't like to cover our sweet Lum with the calendar grid, but if I have to i'll do it.  I can't place and size them all in the same way because some templents aren't designed to. Ex: February: it would be horrible if the table would be placed above the "photo-like" pictures. I can reduce the table a bit (just to make it more similar to the other months) and align it, anyway.

@lilwiz: the problem in April is that a bigger grid would make the image "heavyer" on the table side, Again, I'll see what i can do.

P.S.: customers are always right... :)

P.P.S.: thanx again for the comments!! you're too gentle!!

I just noticed this, the calendar I'm using right now,

the back of the page of one month connects to the next month's page. So like, when you flip the page up to the next month, the back of that page you just turned is part of the picture for the next month's calendar.

The bottom page is the main calendar part, while the top page (the back page of the previous month) has the main pictures.

Ya, thats right. Usually store-bought calendars (at least in Canada anyways) has one page with an image, and the other with the actual grid.

So here I am again.

I enlarged the table in April
(http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/6651/aprile2010.jpg)

and I put up something for June and November
June
(http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/4691/giugno2010.jpg)
November
(http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/2075/novembre2010.jpg)

The november one still needs something, but i can't find something that "fits well" into it.

As always, thanks for the attention and the comments!

Your calendar is looking really good Ferrango, especially the last two. I think I might use them for next year. Can't wait to see more months!

Oh man!!!! I'm in love with November 2010!!!! It must be because I love black. xD

@cata: i like the black background too.
Always about November: is the month text a bit too up? Because I'm planning to place it on the left, a bit more far from the top border, right above Lum's hairs

I like it the way it is.

this are the last two I made.
I recycled the february template for august, since there aren't many good templates in Publisher 2007.

this is July
(http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/8916/luglio2010.jpg)

and this is August
(http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/5029/agosto2010.jpg)

Now, I love the Lum in the upper left of July (she's in a bathing suit).

About August... I would suggest that you remove pics from the callendar itself because if you want to write something in it, it will be difficult to see the writting. Just a suggestion, though.

Adding on to Cata's critique, the yellow and purple background makes it harder to read =/

Otherwise, great job ;)

Post by: ferrango on November 06, 2009, 02:53:13 PM
ok, i'll see if i can get some "lighter" images or I'll take them out of the template.
@sonic: are you referring to the Sat/Sun days, aren't you? I know, red and purple aren't complementar, but i wanted a warm background color for the August.
Any suggestion? PS: when I'll have finished this, i'll release the publisher files too, so you'll be able to customize all the datails that you don't like :)

I was talking about the yellow/red gradient, the red font is fine.

Here it is guys! Just let me know the last comments before the end of the year and i'll see if i can "fix" the problems.
And now some credits.
To Anna S., the owner of the following website: http://www.uruseiyatsura.altervista.org/  (lots of the images I used come from here)
To Everyone on this forum for commenting this thing and/or posting links and images that I used
To Lum-chan, for creating this awesome forum
To MS Publisher, which allowed me to do this thing
To Rumiko Takahashi, for creating Urusei Yatsura
And last, but actually is the most important one, to Lum, for being such a wonderful woman.

Edit: i almost forgot:  to anyone who will print this thing and will use it as his/her calendar.

I'm not sure I like July and August.

Did you use fan art for any ones other than December?
Title: Re: Urusei yatsura calendar
Post by: ferrango on December 09, 2009, 06:26:10 PM
all the backgrounds are fan art, the only pictures which aren't fan art are the ones taken from the episodes.
about August: shall I take away those pics under the calendar grid, as requested by cata?

I really think the September one is great. I don't really like the Lum on the December one but it's still nice. I would recommend to remove her from the grid on December.

When can I download/print this calender? I don't think there is enough time to make any more changes to it, you definately put a lot of work into it Ferrango.

I have to ask to lum-chan if i can upload it in the download section.
Untill that day, you can download the packages from here:
