Genshiken is about a university student who joins a anime club and how he is introduced to otaku culture and also features someone who is anti otaku being dragged into it against their will. The first episode opens and has the introduction of a fictional anime watched by some of the characters watch. Its very good. I personally prefer the dubbed to the original language version as it has good voice acting.

Indeed... they use lots of Gundam references and many other animes and in one of the last episodes one of the characters does an impersonation of Ryuunosuke.
Btw... Genshiken 2 dubbed... I only know about spanish dubs... english... haven't seen any.
