After in total 8 hours of work on this version of the forum, I'm damn proud to annouce the following:
The Forum of Urusei Yatsura's Lum is officially On-Line @ http://www.lum-chan.com
There are some small thingies which need to be changed and/or adaped but thats not a high priority at this moment.
The old forum will stay online for a few weeks but won't be linked anymore and the links on the main site at http://www.lum-chan.com will be changed in a few hours.
A public notice on all sub-domains of lum-chan.com will be made so everyone who visits the main site will be informed of this update/change.
I hope you like the new forum!

I have done this in the following way:
Unregistered users can view the boards but need to register to post any message.
Would this work or should I change it to register first to view and post?

That won't help with the lurkers problem, maybe register to see would be better but that's my opinion.

I hate to throw confusion into the mix, but I disagree - things are so slow anyways that I think forcing registration to even view the forums would hurt things even further. It's the viewing of content that prompts most people to register and post commentary, and not being able to view this would probably inspire people to get bored and go some place else instead. I think the current setting of requiring registration for posting, but allowing anonymous viewing works just peachy.

Sounds like you have some experience on fora Parias. I had a good thinkover on what Pac said and if I should speak for myself: I never register to a forum which I can't checkout first.
Pac's suggestion sounded quite interesting but I think I leave it as it is now. No hard feelings Pac :)
Hmm now I have a new task :D trying to attract more people to the forum who are willing to contribute, right?
Hmm what would be a good way to accomplish this.... Alwrighty then, I guess I have so look around for some kind of site-submission addy... Ack! Google just might be my best friend :)

Dont worry it doesn't matter it was just a sugestion. I also saw this been done in another board and it's working prety well, that's one of the reasons I sugest it.

What about off site references? Ity may be of some use.

Just submitted the forum to several search-engines first.
Now it's time go get the board listed in other anime comunities and try to trade for links and such :)

Lum-chan, is it possible to send a chain mail to all members???
If it's possible could you send some kind of warning in that mail to remember people of the forum, and all that didnt awnser back should be removed from the members list. just to see if we can bring back some of them.

Some members (including Parias himself) havn't been active since at least last year.
We need to fix that (and maybe get some new moderators so you don't get overloaded Lum-Chan)

The main problem is to get mail sent from the mail-server which is located @ Lycos. Many ISP's have blocked the SMTP server from sending mail to their domain and as far as I know, some ISP's are blocking my provider too :(
I have contacted Lycos about the RBL listings a few days ago and I'm awaiting a positive answer. Would be great so I can send a message to all members from the forum.
I'm working on this problem at this moment.

"Get to big fan (150 posts I think) and you get to watch an exclusive video."

Well, it's a good idea. Let's see what I can think/add/create to get the lurkers more active that they are now.

You can always make it time-based instead of post-based. Like... let's say... 2 weeks??
Or even make both together like 2 weeks and 75 posts.
